Seasons of the Saskatoon
Seasons of the Saskatoon [serviceberry]
In April,
the hillsides burst with white—
five petal blooms of the Saskatoon
In spring,
A mule deer might nuzzle up
to feast on its new green leaves.
In June,
A chipmunk or chickadee
might taste its purple-blue berries.
In autumn,
its vibrant red leaves cover
the hillside in hope
In winter,
its red stems remind us
the spring will come again
In nature,
each season soothes
in the colors of the Saskatoon.
