Current Bush

Finally, sunshine!

The dog and I mosey along

the abandoned road running

through the glistening bunchgrass,

still almond from winter.

Delights, spring green!

Ahead, a rounded bush brightly

contrasts with creams of winter’s

resting grasses, a first renewal

in spring’s coming pageant.

Barely blooms—

bell-shaped and tiny, white

against the rippled green leaves,

we pause, amazed at the detail

in spring’s first jewels.
