Until Suddenly

a grey day, dim and dull,

heavy with tiny water droplets 

clinging to the edges

of twigs and jackets and dogs

in a brown and black landscape

tinged in fresh green

of moss and budding branches—

yet crushingly dark and dreary

until suddenly

there was light

there was blue

there were shining puddles

and the clouds and I

and the dog

chasing the setting sun
