Ripples [in friendship]

Ripples

Reflections sparkle on the water,

An autumn leaf bobs in the ebb and flow 

of each new wave, a gentle meditation

for those who pause to feel its calm,

And in the sand below, a pattern

marks where water’s flow has been,

the creation of ripples, spreading out

as memories of the times before,

a trace of fleeting moments

that change as time moves on,

like friendships left in other places

still touch hearts in gentle ways

transcending life’s transitions,

remembered times of yesterday.
