Grateful in 2023

Grateful

Grateful I am

for family and friends

for walking and seeing

the world as it is—

its beauty and its not,

it is what it is;

Grateful to be

my family and me

accepting of others

to live and let live

and a dog that is gentle

no deer chasing for him

and a cat that chooses us

in her own grumpy way

as he and I together

grow old

grow hope

grow with love

grow in thanks;

Grateful, I am.
