Winter

Winter

February’s bitter cold

forgot to send the snow of old;

today the cold throws warmth away

and we forget ‘twas yesterday

we walked, no hat, in sun so bright

thinking spring was in our sight,

but, no, the winter laughs an icy grin

and wraps the rosebuds in frost again.
