Columbia Flows
Columbia Flows
She roars in currents
formed from melting snow
and ancient glaciers
from Canada to the Pacific Ocean,
and here, at Grand Coulee Dam,
she flows through the turbines to
generate power for two million
households every year—and
she flows through miles of canals
to irrigate six hundred eighty thousand acres
of farmlands and orchards,
powering our homes and our food supply—
the Columbia River flows with life
and roars a tumbling tale to care for earth.
