Fiddle Creek Check In Surprise

Fiddle Creek Check In

I took a walk today

a little further up the walk

and ducked down the path

to the kids’ favorite spot 

on Fiddle Creek

[they walked further 

to the Bat Cave];

Gravity led my gait

a quick few steps 

until down the hill

and when I’d caught myself

and stopped, 

when I looked up

to check myself,

I saw the deer

up above

checking me too.
