Sunset

I sigh
Pull over
And step out to remember
Sunset walks along the beach
With our kind-eyed, white-furred lab,
Loved by all and loved all of us;
Each evening
Every evening
We walked,
Mostly wandering on the shore,
Meandering through sagebrush,
Wondering through the trials of this day
And the dreams of the next.
Now the sun sets
This day and all days
With fond memories
Missed, loved, and held dear.
