Roses are Red
The Photo:
June 4, 2015 The climbing rose once adorned the front porch.
The Thought:
The climbing rose once adorned the front porch. We cut it down because the thorns kept catching us and the grandkids. But, thankfully, it’s growing back again. We missed it.
The famous poem “Roses are Red” is originally from The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser [1590], an allegory about Elizabeth 1. [thursd.com] You can read it here: The Project Gutenberg.
Poetry
Roses are Red
Roses are red
Fragrance sublime—
Take care the thorns—
The rose is divine.
