A What If

What if

in the other worlds

the small worlds

we never notice

like fungi in the forest—

Are there hidden other folk-

the fairy folk imagined

living in the mushroom stems

with little clothes hung out to dry

after dancing in the evening dew

and little windows glowing yellow

in little neighborhoods

within the lawn 

lit by the moon’s light

shining in the gloaming

while we in our nightly routines

settle in and sleep

find a dream we roam in—

perhaps dusted by the wee folk

in their nightly dance along our gardens?
