Columbine, a unique blossom
loved by hummingbirds and moths,
rests delicately upon soft pillow leaves and hide their true purpose.

Their pointed petal spurs are crowns tipped with jewels for the fairy folk who love dashing in the columbine’s favorite space, shady areas that create the light and shadows that trick our eyes into thinking what we saw darting in and out of the variegated leaves was just that: shadows and light.

But sit quietly beside their beauty, glancing aside into the space between and you will catch a glimpse of a crowned spirit winking at you.
