is notable

as personalities
so controllable

#jjaproject What Caused That?

What Caused That?

One day lily bloomed
With the morning sun; perhaps
a fairy’s doing.

Petals wrinkled, torn,
As if the tiniest of hands
pried each, bit by bit;

Tiny people, whose
impatience creates traces
of tricks in our world;

We, oblivious,
glance twice to look and exclaim:
“Wonder what caused that?”

#jjaparoject Stunning Views

Stunning Views

Stunning view below
the dam,
see the sunlit hills
of eroded basalt
on the high plateau
far above us
beckoning a journey
to the top.

Midway view up
the winding way,
see the walled water
held seemingly still
wanting to wash
the sunlit town
just below its
penned in power.

Sunny view atop
the hill,
hear the warblers
in the sage and yarrow
singing as we gaze back
down, and the wind
laughs at our smallness,
which this journey
has taught us
in stunning views.

ENT

Stretching
ever taller
into the clouds
opening its arms

Spreading
ever farther
over the yard
dangling its leaves

Shading
ever absorbing
all the sunshine
cooling its understory

I gaze at this ent's majesty,
thankful for its summer shade.

About the Image:

I snapped the picture with my iphone -- close-up to the lower right spirea blossoms with the others out of focus. I imported that into my Enlight app and used the artistic painting mask to "paint" all around, except in the in focus lower right blossoms. I then imported that image into my Steller app, chosing the Wander theme with caption, exporting to Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram. In Instagram I exported to twitter and Flickr. In the Flickr app, I added the information on tags, description, groups, and albums, but needed to go to my computer to change the license to CC Non-commercial Share-Alike. While on the computer I also created this post.

Apple Waiting

I thought
they’d grow faster,
these Red Delicious
Apples still green
and growing.

I thought
they’d be caught
bigger each day, these deer desserts
still growing
out of their grasp.

The deer and I are apple waiting.

Columbine Fairy #jjaproject

Sheri Edwards
#jjaproject
June 3, 2015

Columbine, a unique blossom
loved by hummingbirds and moths,
rests delicately upon soft pillow leaves and hide their true purpose.

Their pointed petal spurs are crowns tipped with jewels for the fairy folk who love dashing in the columbine’s favorite space, shady areas that create the light and shadows that trick our eyes into thinking what we saw darting in and out of the variegated leaves was just that: shadows and light.

But sit quietly beside their beauty, glancing aside into the space between and you will catch a glimpse of a crowned spirit winking at you.

#napowrimo15 If Only

If only…

If only
the fragrant floret of the spring lilac bloomed the summer through;
If only
the yellow dazzle of dandelions
delighted the neighbor’s view;
If only
the sweet songs of spring birds
stayed softly the year through
If only
these, would woes diminish
and poems flourish?

#napowrimo15 This Road

This Road

Twenty minute drive
one way
Up to work,
up this highway:
I know this road.
Some travel
the black ribbon crossways;
Sometimes darting,
daring the byway:
I share this road.
I know the places
they appear;
I look for them,
some year after year.
A home, this road.

Round the curve
to the straightway
Same old fence of wood:
same old ravens always stood;
Down a mile, on the wire
Every spring, meadowlark sings;
Slow down the hill
where waters run
See the sage
and wild rosehips —
that is where
coyote slips;
And up above
look there and smile
circling higher, ever more
eagle floats on wings that soar.

Peace of mind —
a gift, each weekday;
creator guides
each creature’s way;
We live this road.

Blossoms pink
Full upon the branches,
Swirling, waving in a wild wind,
Petal by petal plucked, whirled
And twirled until evening calm
Pauses and places a gentle fall,
Full upon the curbing; still
Blossoms pink.

Four.

Four.
No more.”

Grandkid Art

Yes, bats hid in the cave
when we hike up the dusty hill
beyond the creek we cross,
balanced on the small elm tree limb
fallen over like a bridge;
Still, racing home again
it's chalk families and
painted flowers that keep us
hidden in our art cave:
Gramma's Cottage.
