Poem in Her Pocket

A walk in the hall,
Child by my side
A poem in her pocket
Opened with pride;

Chosen herself,
Copied with care,
Tucked into her pocket,
Ready to share;

Song in her voice
I listen and know it
A poem performed
By this future poet.

  1. Love this quick little poem about a wonderful moment of discovery. This should be the Poem in your Pocket Day official poem.

    1. Thank you, Margaret. It was a sweet experience since I teach grade eight, and the second grade teacher, Miss White, took the time to celebrate also, sending her kids to our room to share. Very special indeed!
