Turn Around, a photo by teach.eagle on Flickr.

Turn around from the end of the road to find the way through.

When times are tough,
with no way out,
turn around,
and look about:

The end of the road
Will change from view
And you will find
a new way through.

Life will find a way-
A road has gone away;
Another path begun
In asphalt split, undone;
Plants stretch anew
Reach and bloom through
Til a road once travelled
Becomes a garden in gravel.

Driving in for Pooka's walk
I looked up and had to stop;
There I saw these two pine trees
Ponderosas, in the breeze.

At the edge of a cliff
Where a fall could harm
The two pines stand
Arm in arm.

One tree hugging
It's arm holding tight
Holding it's brother
From a fall of fright.

Holding up
Held together
Hugging safe
Together, Forever.

Family Favorite

Blueberry Blitzens
Uncle Ron's Recipe

Blueberry Blitzens
A Family Tradition

2:1 eggs to milk;
So make it 2 eggs and 1 cup milk
Add 3 Tablespoons melted butter
Sift in 1/2-3/4 cup flour
Top it with a 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Mix it up; Mix it thinner than pancake batter.

Spread 1/4 cup batter thinly around
on the bottom of a curved frying pan
It's crepes you're making, spread it thin;
Wait 'til the around the edges the crepe turns in
Then flip it over to brown the other side;
Pop it on a plate; spread thin with sour cream
Plop on the blueberries spread on top sour cream
Sprinkle on the sugar, atop the whole thing.
Now roll it up, smile and sigh,
Take a bite: devine;
Bltizen style.

Banks Lake -- this is a resting place in the pelican migration.

Banks Lake is also a reservoir; water is pumped up from the Columbia River at Grand Coulee Dam and fed through a canal to the lake. The water irrigates the desert of the Columbia Basin -- hundreds of thousands of acres.

Grand Coulee Dam: powerful

River Power. Remember that ledge on the left, just above the splashing water, is five stories tall, just to give you some perspective. So those splashes from the water spilling are also often five stories tall. Feeling small?

Here's the video: flic.kr/p/a3DAxx

Sunset on Grand Coulee Dam

The river is roaring over the top; the reservoir is full. Just to give some perspective, that building just above the river on the left side is five stories tall! The splash of the water must be at least that tall. Amazing power! Enjoy the rainbow.

A Fishing Story

I thought, "The crickets are chirping, the sun has fallen, the water is still, the air is still and slightly musty." I said, "This is the time of day my parents would say 'a few more minutes of fishing before we pack up for home.' The sound, the sky, the smells all say this."

Scott says, "Otherwise known as dusk to everyone else."
